In this part of the world a flock of geese fly south together each fall in a shape of “V”. Science discovered that as each goose flaps its’ wings it creates an “uplift” for the bird following and help the flock go faster.

If this V formation is somehow disturbed each bird feels the drag and resistance of trying to fly alone. Therefore, they try to get organized and get back in line to form again the “V” shape.

When the leader of this flock gets tired it rotates back into formation and another goose takes the lead position while the rest honk to encourage the leader.

When a goose gets sick or wounded, two geese will follow their member to help provide protection and they stay with this member of the flock until the bird is able to fly again or dies.

We Hararis have a strong sense of community and a common goal.”. We must stay together and strengthen our unity. We must respect our leaders whom we chose to lead us and commit ourselves to take a turn when the time comes. We must give our leaders and those who made a difference in our community words of encouragement and appreciation. As the saying goes “ Allam aylayana - Daduw Yadbalana; Zaytiqoch qaladbem - quragna yushana”.
